NOORDERSOFT
SPECIAL MESSAGE FOR SHIPS WITH AN AIR DRAUGHT OVER 13 METERS! ! The bridge in the IJssel estuary, the Ketelmeerbrug or Ketelbrug, has been put out of order after a short circuit causing the bridge to open unintended. Although passage is allowed under the closed bridge deck, ships with more than 13 meters air draught will not be able to pass. As the vast majority of ships and boats can pass the bridge arches of over 13 meters high, the bridge has NOT been included in the stoppages list!
In the 2010 version of PC-Navigo, the problem has been solved because this version takes interruption of bridge operation into account.
After attempts to hack our stoppages servers and other disruptions we had to decide to migrate these services to other servers. Therefore the IP addresses and URL's of the stoppage download function changed too. This took effect between june and august 2009. In the same operation an additional back up server was added, so that the availability of the stoppages will always be guaranteed. As of the 1st of october, you CANNOT download the stoppages anymore from the old server.
If you have a 2008 or 2009 version and if any problems occur during your attempts to download stoppages, please choose either of the two options below in order to restore this functionality and re-establish the connection with our stoppage servers:
With the versions 2009, 2008 and 2007 the stoppages can now be downloaded in the usual way. This modification is NOT possible for 2006 versions, as these versions do not yet contain the possibility to modify the server addresses. For these versions you'll have to download the stoppages manually from our web site (see the last alineas of this page).
In the european waterways breaks (stoppages) are planned every year in order to carry out maintenance and control works. As far as these stoppages imply a total interruption (meaning that no passage of ships is possible) NoorderSoft keeps them surveyed in a database, allowing the users of PC-Navigo to take the waterway closures into account.
In order to allow PC-Navigo to track down the possible stoppages, the concerned updated file must be downloaded every now and then. This can be done automatically, using the function in PC-Navigo which collects the necessary information, or manually, by downloading the file from this page and saving it into the same subdirectory where PC-Navigo is installed (usually C:\Program Files\Navigo....).
If PC-Navigo establishes stoppages along a calculated route, it will report when and where these stoppages will be, and it will propose to recalculate the route in order to find an alternative (that is: IF such an alternative is available and faster or shorter than the original with the stoppage for the time it lasts).
The file with the most recently published stoppages is called obstruct10.dbf and obstruct08.dbf (TWO FILES if you have version 2010) or simply obstruct08.dbf (if you have version 2009 or 2008) or obstruct07.dbf (if you have version 2007); You may download it with a double click and save it in the directory that contains PC-Navigo.
As of January 2008 the seperate stoppage files for versions 2006, 4.5 and older have not been maintained anymore. A file with only the long-lasting stoppages for version 2006, called obstruct000.dbfcan be downloaded; for the versions 4.5 or 4.4 it is called obstruct44.dbf; for version 4.3 and older the file is called obstruct.dbf.
