NOORDERSOFT
and
River Information Services
Voyage planning plays an important role in River Information Services, the standardized information exchange between ships and the authorities. NoorderSoft's software describes (planned) voyages in a way that allows exchanges with other planning and positioning systems. This ensures a possibility to "filter" the information: notices to skippers can be identified in conjuction with the route, so that the possible effects of obstructions for that route can be taken into account.
The waterway data of NoorderSoft also play a crucial role. To allow administrations, authorities and users of River Information Services an easy access to all important waterway data, a waterway index has been developed, the so called "RIS-Index". It takes care of a unique identification of all locks and bridges, quays and harbours. The index can be downloaded by filling out the form below and clicking the SUBMIT button. More about the exact data in the RIS-index you can find here.
The RIS Server of NoorderSoft contains a number of River Information Services functions. The server is used as a test platform for BoRIS (Barge operations in River Information Services) and for the experiments with dedicated Notices to Skippers, Gauge information and Ice messages. For access to the server an access code and a pass word are necessary. These can be obtained by concerned parties from NoorderSoft via email.
The waterway data files of NoorderSoft contain more than only the index data: dimensions, operating hours, communication channels, position, a.s.o. These additional data can be made available under licensing agreements. To obtain more information about this, please contact NoorderSoft, by email .
