NOORDERSOFT-NEWS

All of the english, welsh, scotch and irish waterways have been digitized and documented in the record time of three months only. Exactly 14.374 bridges, locks, wharves, marinas, junctions and many other types of objects have been added to the NoorderSoft waterway databases. These new data have resulted in the newest version of the PC-Navigo range: PC-Navigo UK and Ireland...

PC-Navgo UK & Ireland

This first version still has to be "fine-tuned" to the specific circumstances. Options to express dimensions and distances in feet, yards and miles instead of meters and kilometers will be added; important towns, villages, marinas and other relevant object will still be added according to the feedback of a range of test users; and we will still link the information in this voyage planner to the official information of the various waterway authorities - in spite of the rather worrying and unnecessary scepticism we experienced from BW officials so far. The stoppages, restrictions and advices (published in a non-standardized way until now) must be converted into the standard River Information Services format in order to allow the software to take the effects into account in the voyage planning proces and to allow automatic translation of the information. Water level gauges have to be specified and analysed and a server infrastructure will have to be set up to provide all dymanic information to the users. But all of this will most likely be ready and done by spring 2007.

To get as much feedback from users as possible, the bêta version (test version) of PC-Navigo UK & Ireland will be for sale for a discounted price of Euro 95,- (£ 63,50) from november 2006 untill march 2007. Buyers of this bêta version will receive the update to the final version free of charge, so that they will have the same software and data as anyone else after the test period.

A full description of all functions and possibilities of PC-Navigo is available on our PC-Navigo page. Orders for the bêta version cannot be posted through the standard order form, but must be sent in an email to uk-orders@noordersoft.com.
