NoorderSoft is the software-branche of "Noorderzon Cruises b.v.", a company specialised in the logistics of transport by water since 1990. NoorderSoft produces computer programs for voyage planning, transport planning, time calculation, cost calculation and fleet management on the European (inland) waterways. NoorderSoft exploits a detailed data collection of all the features of the European waterways. The company advises other companies and institutions in all matters concerning the inland waterways network.

NoorderSoft supplies consultancy to governmental institutions dealing with the inland waterways. The company holds a large expertise on shipping practice and on the use of the waterways network. Thus an efficient, fast advise can be given whenever and whereever it is needed.

Noordersoft cooperates closely with other companies in this branche. NoorderSoft is a member of the European Association of Developers of Inland Nautical Software, a branch organisation.

NoorderSoft exchanges expertise with the "wet" departments of the Dutch ministry of Transport (Rijkswaterstaat) and with national and international platforms, such as the Central Rhine Commission and the Central Danube Commission. NoorderSoft participates in E.U.-funded research and development projects like "COMPRIS". In this project NoorderSoft develops and produces software products that provide direct access to River Information Services for the end users: both the people in the wheelhouses of ships and the logistics experts.
